From October 15 to 17 (local time), the EcoEnergy Expo 2024 was held at the Kyiv International Exhibition Center. CHISAGE ESS, in partnership with its customers, showcased its core products to unlock the potential of Ukraine’s energy storage market, driving the upgrade and optimization of local energy solutions.
Due to the ongoing conflict, Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure has been severely damaged, with many areas experiencing prolonged power outages. In the capital city of Kyiv, most buildings face at least 10 hours of power cuts each day. As of the end of May, Ukraine’s generation capacity was only about 10 GW, which is approximately one-fourth of the pre-war level. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy has announced that from June 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, household electricity prices will be raised to 4.32 hryvnias/kWh (approximately $0.107/kWh), representing an increase of about 64%.
On July 24, Nadiya Bihun, the Deputy Minister of the Economy of Ukraine, announced that Ukrainian citizens can now apply for zero-interest loans to purchase solar panels and storage equipment, with a maximum loan amount of 480,000 hryvnias and a repayment period of 10 years. In this context, local residents are securing their household power supply and reducing electricity costs by installing residential solar storage systems, which has rapidly driven the growth of Ukraine’s residential solar storage market.
